“One beautiful afternoon in 1998 I had the opportunity to stand in the grass between the single runway and taxiway at the Grants Pass, Oregon Airport (3S8) as the Collings Foundation’s B-24 and B-17 landed. I could feel them pass as they gently grasped for the earth.
Several minutes later I stood directly in front of them as all eight thundering radials one by one was shut down. There is something that stirs within your soul when facing the sounds and smells of vintage bombers.
About an hour later I watched as a frail WWII veteran walked up to the side of the B-24 and laid his hand on it. I wasn’t ready for outpouring of tears and emotions as this gentleman fought to quell the memories of a war many now can’t even comprehend. Our society wouldn’t be able to wrap their minds around the raw and horrific type of combat our WWII vets survived.
I never forgot that experience, and from that day forward had the idea for Aerorush.com.”
Philip has been involved in both Military and Civilian Aviation for many years. From his days on the USS Saratoga, to King Air’s and even LSA’s, he has been around the industry for nearly 30 years. His favorite phrase is “I love the smell of jet fuel in the morning”, and even has the coffee mug to prove it.
In 2002 he met and married his soulmate Ms. Marty Hoskinson. Marty is an honors graduate of Johnson and Wales University with a degree in Culinary Arts. Her passion for food almost matched his passion for aviation. At that time Philip left the aviation industry to start a catering company in Virginia Beach, VA.
From 2002 thru 2009 Philip and Marty owned several businesses, but in the end he had to get back into aviation. Having relocated to the Pacific Northwest with his family, it was time to get back into the air.
One flight in a King Air B200 and he is on the road to aviation recovery.
